Christine Jahnke

Since 1990, Christine Jahnke has worked with Sheehan Associates as a media and public speaking coach. She works with Fortune 500 executives, Olympic athletes, Members of Congress, authors and scientists to help them become skilled communicators. Chris prepares clients for today's fast-paced communications forums – from live in-studio news media interviews to computer-assisted business presentations before corporate audiences.

A former television reporter and anchor, Chris understands what the media wants from newsmakers. Her trainees appear on: 60 MINUTES, IMUS IN THE MORNING, MEET THE PRESS, MONEYLINE, NATIONAL PUBLIC RADIO, THE NEWSHOUR WITH JIM LEHRER, TODAY SHOW and others. Among the Sheehan Associates clients she works with are: American Bar Association, American Medical Association, Centers for Disease Control, Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association, Gillette, Glaxo Wellcome, WorldCom, National Geographic Society, National Science Foundation, Natural Resources Defense Council, Tenneco, Time Warner Communications; and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

In 1996 and 2000, Chris worked with Michael Sheehan at the Democratic National Convention. She rehearsed Members of Congress, cabinet secretaries and celebrities for their presentations before the Democratic National Convention. Campaigns and Elections magazine named Chris "a rising star in politics" for her debate preparation and media training for numerous U.S. Congressional candidates and elected officials. For nearly ten years, Chris has been the resident media consultant to the Women's Campaign Fund.

As a consultant to the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, Chris has coached political candidates and elected officials in emerging democracies. In 1998, Chris led a team of four media trainers to First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's "Vital Voices" conference in Uruguay. Women from 34 countries across South and Central America participated in the conference.

Chris teaches politics and the media at the University of Maryland's Center for Political Participation and Leadership. The Women's Information Network has recognized Chris as a "Young Woman of Achievement." Her seminars have been featured on C-SPAN.
